Ross Walters: News
I like to preach - November 17, 2009
"We had the wonderful privilege of experiencing Ross' music ministry at our church. His music touched our hearts - it was awesome! But we also found that he is not just a ministrel in the body of Christ. He is also a minister of the Word. As the beauty of his music ministry touched our hearts, his ministry of the Word of God was a breath of fresh air that touched the very depths of our souls. Through his teaching, we were profoundly impacted with the love of Jesus Christ."

After the Rain Lyrics - April 19, 2009
BY REQUEST, HERE ARE LYRICS FOR THE 4 ORIGINAL SONGS ON THE AFTER THE RAIN EP.
SET MY MIND ON IT
Proverbs 4 says that it’s a medication. So I make the Word of God my meditation. Everyday with utmost dedication I’m gonna set my mind on it. Without hesitation. Set my mind on it. Set my mind on it. Faith comes from having heard. Set my mind on His Word.
Joshua. Chapter one verse eight. In this book of the Law you shall meditate. Wherever you go. North, South, East, or West. You will prosper. And have success. So I set my mind on it. Set my mind on it. Faith comes from having heard. Set my mind on His Word.
Planted by streams of water I will be. Strong and secure, growing like a tree. Bearing my fruit in the right season. And it’s for this very reason. I’m gonna set my mind on it. Set my mind on it. Faith comes from having heard. Set my mind. Set my mind. Set my mind. I’m gonna set my mind.
FORTY BANANA
I gave the missionary forty banana (3x's)
next year I had one bumper crop my banana tree don't know when to stop hallelujah (2x's)
The fish in the sea they don't worry 'bout there need they just flowing. My God shall supply and multiply your seed for sowing. The birds of the air they don't have a care they're just flying. Don't worry 'but your job there's no need to sob. Stop your crying.
Give us this day our daily bread. My God shall supply and multiply. Give us this day our daily bread. Your need he will always satisfy.
SONSHINE
There's a light that's shining on me, makes my heart a melody
S-O-N-S-H-I-N-E Sonshine
Even in the midnight hour I feel Your light I feel Your power
I am like a sunflower always facing toward you
After the rain the sun will break through, rising with healing, healing in His wings
Release your pain as His warmth touches you, warming your bones, making you whole again
My doubts can obscure the sun, I know I'm not the only one, to feel down when the evening comes. Where's my lifeline?
In the darkness you hear my cries. I photosynthesize. Bathing me in heavenly light, Sonshine
(repeat chorus)
Everyday the same story. The whole world is full of His glory. Dark clouds tried to bring me down. But in my mind a happy sound
Son of God there is no one above Thee. I have your word that you'll always love me. Though the devil tries to push and shove me I'll be just fine.
(repeat chorus)
BATTLEFIELDS
I never knew, when I made this choice. I never knew when I raised my voice, to receive salvation, the key to heaven's door. I never knew, this was war.
I will set my face like flint before the enemy. As one man I will cause a thousand to flee before me.
waging war in battlefields, the faithfulness of God my shield. He has strengthened both my arms, so I can bend a bow of bronze
Over time, I have found, that my mind, is the battleground. Satan brings temptation, fear, and lies. Tries to make me sin and compromise.
repeat chorus
I have seen the war horse raging at the sound of the trumpet and the battle cry
He's not afraid of the war we're waging. He's not afraid. He's not afraid. He's not afraid to die and neither am I.

Bach! Bach! Bach! - May 23, 2008
I've been playing the soprano saxophone everyday. ALL I'm playing is Bach right now. I mean a tiny bit of jazz when i practice but mostly sitting in front of the Bach books. It's a funny collection of books. I just bought a new one today. Ive got about 5 diverse books one is 'arranged' for saxophone but mostly flute books or piano books. I just read the top line of the 2 part inventions. I'm trying to get connected to the soprano sax and this is helping but there is such a theraputic benefit to playing this music. It's all about calmness and order. Every note has a purpose and a function. The soprano is a beautiful instrument when you don't try to play jazz on it.

Sacred Soundscapes - December 23, 2007
Not sure if this will be the next record but... it will get recorded.
This album features medleys of hymns and worship songs featuring my wind instruments. There are 3 rather long medleys titled Creation, Consecration, and Adoration.
The idea is to take the listener on a journey from the beauty of God´s creation on earth, into reflective soul searching, and then into triumphant worship. Thats the idea anyway; from earth to heaven in about 40 minutes of music.
I started getting excited about the possibilities of performing these pieces live and that has affected the arrangements. The movements have more oomph and charisma than the original idea of prayerful music. We shall see we have only sketched out the 2nd medley.
I returned to the idea of instrumental music after several doors have opened for me to perform overseas. Instrumental music requires no translation.

Snow on Snow performed Live - December 9, 2007
Producer and longtime friend Ed Goldfarb flew out to Nashville to play my church`s Christmas banquet with me. We hired bass and drums and added the lovely Kristin Schwein (of zoe girl fame). It was a great evening of music and was nice to dust off the old arrangements and play them again. The folowing day Ed and I sat down and sketched out arrangements for my upcoming project Sacred Soundscapes. Which deserves its own news story.

Ross Scheduled to Appear on "Dino Show" - February 10, 2006
Dino is an acclaimed Gospel pianist. He's got a talk show. We taped this week. It was fun. He and his wife turn out to be super nice folks and I really enjoyed working with them. Denver and the Mile High Orchestra functioned as the house band for the show and we taped several episodes. I got to do a couple tunes and an interview. These shows will start airing Thurs Mar 9 at 6 pm central standard time. My show is supposed to air April 13th. I'm crossing my fingers hoping I sounded good.

After the Rain EP Liner Notes - November 9, 2005
I DIDN'T WANT TO CLUTTER UP THE BACK OF MY CD COVER WITH LINER NOTES SO HERE'S SOMETHING I WROTE IN SEPTEMBER. SEE THE SEPARATE NEWS ENTRY FOR CREDITS.
Dear Listener,
I've been writing songs expressing my Christian faith and various Biblical themes for many years. As the catalog of songs continued to grow I felt an increasing urgency to record the material. Here are the firstfruits of this effort with songs relating to spiritual warfare, Biblical meditation, and the law of reciprocity (giving and receiving). It is my intention to release a full-length album of these and other compositions soon.
Track 4, as you will hear, stands out as the only instrumental on this CD and represents the genesis of an entirely separate full-length sacred album featuring the saxophone.
It is my sincere desire that, regardless of your system of beliefs, this music will encourage you and lighten your burdens.

Ross Walters Joins Mile High Orchestra for Christmas Tour - October 11, 2005
Well actually, the second half of the tour. Dec 14 through the 21 stretching from Florida to Colorado. Click on "Calendar Dates" for further details. It's going to be a zany and madcap show and then for about 3 minutes and 45 seconds it will get serious and we'll do a slow song. Denver Bierman is a triple threat singing, playing trumpet, and writing some darn swell arrangements for this youthful and vigorous big band.
Ross Uses Vandoren Products - October 8, 2005
HERE'S SOME GEAR NEWS FOR THE SAX PLAYERS. This also answers at least one frequently asked question. Vandoren reeds are good when you get the right strength and they are making really good mouthpieces now also. I use the reeds on all the horns and one of the mouthpieces on tenor sax (jumbo t95). In the future will try out the new V16 alto piece. Back to reed strengths; there is a wide variance of strengths in each box rendering a percentage of them unplayable. I'm thinking of solving this problem by carrying 2 mouthpieces of different sizes to accomodate this variable. There is an important relationship between tip opening and reed strength. The wider the tip, the softer the reed. Another way to deal with the reed variable problem is by visiting a Vandoren "advisory studio". they have three in the USA in Manhattan, Chicago, and LA. They've got a machine that will test your "perfect reed" and determine it's exact strength then they can create the perfect box of reeds for you from this profile. They also have the full line of mouthpieces and ligatures you can try out. I don't have any kind of endorsement arrangement at this point in time but admire the company's commitment to quality and continued research and development.
Colorado - September 26, 2005
The folks in the Denver area are a friendly and hospitable bunch. I played 2 great churches (see calendar dates for details) and spent some time with Dr. Jim McCarty getting some medical treatments. If you know anyone with TMJ or migraine problems they need to see this guy. People are traveling from all over the globe to get him to work on their heads. http://www.drmccarty.com/ Also played the Pepsi center with
Miami - July 13, 2005
Had a great weekend in Miami and played a wonderful church. If you're in that area you need to check out Trinity Church. It features a great choir and band with a tight brass section and the comedic but effective preaching stylings of Rich Wilkerson.
Finally! A Website! - July 7, 2005
I've been talking about getting one together for 5 years. Hostbaby.com totally rocks. Certainly not the cheapest monthly rate but if you can't design anything and don't wanna learn HTML it's a boon.
