Ross Walters: News

Preaching/Teaching - August 17, 2008

I compose sermons all the time. I'm talking to some pastor friends of mine about letting me have the pulpit and have a go at it. It's very exciting. I've always enjoyed leading Bible studies and have preached sporadically here and there. It's funny if I ever lead worship i will tend to teach a bit and bring some scripture to the song service. The Word of God is faith rocket fuel and worship is an act of faith! I'm gonna preach some messages to the camera and stick em on youtube and myspace so watch for those. SO HEY I'M AVAILABLE FOR SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS IN ADDITION TO THE CONCERTS. ALSO LOVE TO DO CLINICS FOR MUSICIANS REGARDING SONGWRITING OR IMPROVISATION.

SPAM in my guestbook - June 26, 2008

Im getting some really weird stuff in there. I try to keep it cleaned out. Sometimes there are some goofy links.

Ross on the Radio in 5 zillion countries - May 26, 2008

Bay Area musician/songwriter and radio host Paul Gentry
http://GentryMusicWeb.com has put together a radio show of
independent Christian Artists. He was kind enough to include me in
this venture.

This is a temp page http://www.sockspiderradio.com you can click the
red button and stream the mp3 of the show. I enjoyed most of the
artists featured. A bunch of folks I've mostly never heard of before.
Paul gives me a real nice intro i appreciated that.

The show will be on over 120 radio stations in the U.S and numerous
internet and podcasts,

Countries via radio: Japan, Malta, Australia, New Zealand, Germany,
Bulgaria; Liverpool, UK; Moscow, Russia; Nambia, Canada and Holland
with 3 of these countries having a nation-wide network via cable and
satellite.

I'm still preparing arrangements for Sacred Soundscapes which i
anticipate will be misspelled when the cd covers are printed and i
will be stuck with 5000 copies of "Scared Soundscapes". 'Is this a
Halloween project'? people will inquire. um no it's just a typo.

Anyways give the radio show a listen and also wanted to point you to
http://myspace.com/rosswalters which features 6 full length streaming
tracks if you dont own my discs. Probably the easiest place on the web
to hear my music.

Bach! Bach! Bach! - May 23, 2008

I've been playing the soprano saxophone everyday. ALL I'm playing is Bach right now. I mean a tiny bit of jazz when i practice but mostly sitting in front of the Bach books. It's a funny collection of books. I just bought a new one today. Ive got about 5 diverse books one is 'arranged' for saxophone but mostly flute books or piano books. I just read the top line of the 2 part inventions. I'm trying to get connected to the soprano sax and this is helping but there is such a theraputic benefit to playing this music. It's all about calmness and order. Every note has a purpose and a function. The soprano is a beautiful instrument when you don't try to play jazz on it.

A lot is going on. But not a lot is going on - May 6, 2008

So busy with travel with Benny Hinn and my family when I'm home there hasnt been a huge amount of momentum regarding my solo 'career' however my team is now looking toward the fall to start recording Sacred Soundscapes (the instrumental project).
The bottom line is I'm so eager to start and finish something new but i can't right now so what i do is blog about it in the meantime.
No sense striving. Fruit is tastiest when it is vine-ripened.

OK I'm writing tunes now - April 17, 2008

Working on these songs. There has been one that i've been singing live that everyone is dyin for me to record. It's called He's Healing my Heart Overtime and trust me its not as stupid as the title sounds. But anyway that is one song that is done. Ive got 5 done and 5 to finish. The composing is like a complicated puzzle trying to fit the pieces. Ive got melodies for some things, verses, choruses, need bridges and some lyrics with no music at all. I've got about 5 more i want to write cause im still lookin for something that sounds totally like irresistible ear candy. Just gotta keep playing with it all. I write at the piano but mostly write driving around beatboxing with my mouth or singing over the lame tunes on the radio. So ok hopefully a record will be released in 2009.

itunes, Snocap, CDbaby - January 2, 2008

Happy New Year! there are several ways you can help support my artistry by purchasing tracks. The opening page of this website has a snocap store where you can purchase invidual tracks and I'm also on itunes. If you want a hard copy of the cds those can be purchased at cdbaby.com

Sacred Soundscapes - December 23, 2007

Not sure if this will be the next record but... it will get recorded.
This album features medleys of hymns and worship songs featuring my wind instruments. There are 3 rather long medleys titled Creation, Consecration, and Adoration.
The idea is to take the listener on a journey from the beauty of God´s creation on earth, into reflective soul searching, and then into triumphant worship. Thats the idea anyway; from earth to heaven in about 40 minutes of music.
I started getting excited about the possibilities of performing these pieces live and that has affected the arrangements. The movements have more oomph and charisma than the original idea of prayerful music. We shall see we have only sketched out the 2nd medley.
I returned to the idea of instrumental music after several doors have opened for me to perform overseas. Instrumental music requires no translation.

Snow on Snow performed Live - December 9, 2007

Producer and longtime friend Ed Goldfarb flew out to Nashville to play my church`s Christmas banquet with me. We hired bass and drums and added the lovely Kristin Schwein (of zoe girl fame). It was a great evening of music and was nice to dust off the old arrangements and play them again. The folowing day Ed and I sat down and sketched out arrangements for my upcoming project Sacred Soundscapes. Which deserves its own news story.

A Ross Walters Reissue! - October 8, 2007

My first CD is available again after being out of print for a while. Its got a snazzy new cover. At some point I need to include the complete credits on this website.

Booking solo events for Fall and Winter 07 - August 13, 2007

My solo career has been on the backburner for the most part during the past year during a difficult family crisis but I am back on the phone and seeking friendly churches to host me.
I'm more excited that ever about the destiny that God has prepared for me as I seek to fulfill my calling, advance His Kingdom, and be a blessing where He leads.

I will play music in 12 countries this year - June 27, 2006

No kidding. It's been a crazy travel year so far.

The Dino Show? - April 22, 2006

I have no idea if this show aired yet or when it's gonna be on. I did get a DVD copy in the mail (which was thoughtful of them) so it's gonna air and probably be rerun at least once. I played good. I've sang better that's for sure. But it's suppposed to air in 87 countries so I'm a little excited about that.

I Went To Korea - March 7, 2006

Ross Scheduled to Appear on "Dino Show" - February 10, 2006

Dino is an acclaimed Gospel pianist. He's got a talk show. We taped this week. It was fun. He and his wife turn out to be super nice folks and I really enjoyed working with them. Denver and the Mile High Orchestra functioned as the house band for the show and we taped several episodes. I got to do a couple tunes and an interview. These shows will start airing Thurs Mar 9 at 6 pm central standard time. My show is supposed to air April 13th. I'm crossing my fingers hoping I sounded good.

I'm going to Fiji - January 17, 2006

today. I dont put all my dates in the calendar section of the website. I'm going with the evangelist.

DMHO Timeless Christmas Tour - December 18, 2005

I've been busy all this month doing this tour. Had to miss a few dates to travel to S. Africa and back. It's been a crazy schedule but it's a really fun show. DMHO is an acronym for Denver and the Mile High Orchestra. It's a jazzy big band show. I play sax and operate one of the snow machines. It's been hard work since we do our own setup/teardown in addition to running around the stage playing wind instruments and acting out the Grinch who Stole Christmas.

ross walters on itunes music store - November 28, 2005

My first album is available at least. I'll have to work on the other 2. You can purchase individual tracks or the whole record.

EP back from factory. What is an EP? - November 11, 2005

It stands for extended play, meaning the disc is longer than a 'single' but shorter than an LP (long play). Anyway my EP is finished.
